Mulled Wine

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. As the weather turns cool and the holiday festivities begin, homes are filled with laughter and the smell of a feast in the making. This year, add to your menu this warm, spiced wine that tastes like Christmas in a cup. Making your own mulled wine is simple and you will reap the benefit of a kitchen smelling like Christmas!

Feel free to use this as a basic recipe and customise it the way you like it. Merry Christmas!

 

Ingredients:

750 ml of dry red wine
1/4 cup Cointreau/Cognac (optional)
1 orange, sliced
1/4 cup honey
8-10 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise

 

Method:

1. Combine all ingredients in a pot and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

2. Reduce heat to low, and let the wine steep for 15 minutes

3. Strain and serve warm
